Submission Guidelines CONSEQUENCE publishes annually short fiction, poetry, non-fiction, interviews, visual art and book reviews primarily focused on the culture and consequences of war. CONSEQUENCE welcomes unsolicited manuscripts during the reading period between June 1st and November 1st. Submissions mailed outside that period will be returned unread, provided that sufficient return postage is included. Our reporting time is approximately two to three months from the end of our reading period. We will respond to mailed manuscripts only when accompanied with a self-addressed, stamped envelope. For fiction and non-fiction: please submit one piece of no more than 5,000 words. For poetry: please submit up to five poems of any length. Translations are acceptable. WE DO READ SUBMISSIONS SENT BY EMAIL. Please submit your work to our email address in a format that can be read by Microsoft Word; or send your manuscript to the mailing address below. If you are submitting by regular mail, please do not send us the only copy of your work. While we make every effort to deal with each submission quickly and fairly, we cannot, due to the large number of submissions, accept responsibility for lost or unreturned submissions that are not accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope. It is important to include in the form of a cover letter the following: both regular mail address and email address, phone number, title of manuscript, and a short biography. At this time we are not considering previously published work. Simultaneous submissions are welcome and encouraged, but if your work is accepted elsewhere, please let us know immediately. Each submission may be accepted for publication in the print edition of CONSEQUENCE and (with the writer’s permission) CONSEQUENCE Online. CONSEQUENCE is an independent, non-profit magazine and does not offer honorarium or compensation for published work.
